Description

Film conference - Istanbul, The Bosphorus
«At the crossroads of worlds and thought»

Istanbul! Founded as Byzantium around 658 BC, the city took the name Constantinople when, around 330, Emperor Constantine transferred the capital of the Roman Empire there. On 28 March 1930, it was officially renamed Istanbul.

Situated on the Bosphorus strait, which links the Black Sea to the Sea of Marmara at the same time as separating Asia from Europe, Istanbul is known for famous buildings such as Saint Sophia, the Sultan Hamet mosque, the Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and Leonardo da Vinci's bridge, as well as for the lively choreography of boats on the Bosphorus.

Looking beyond the city as a museum - from Ottoman palaces to lively districts - director Arthur David takes you on a journey of discovery of a plural Istanbul, a blend of tradition and cultural diversity.
