Monsieur Jourdain has big dreams: he wants to become a «gentleman». When an ordinary bourgeois struggles to gain entry into high society and imitate the nobility, pretences abound, intrigues arise, tutors come and go, and misunderstandings follow one after another… Turks turn up uninvited, marriages are arranged, and arguments rage over vowels and consonants amidst a whirl of powdered wigs and flamboyant costumes.
