A stroll on wheels: Robert Fleury – Pereire Walk
The popularity of sea bathing attracted a «foreign colony» of royalty and celebrities, crowned heads, prominent families, men of letters and opera singers. The Pereire brothers, Emile and Isaac, owners of the railway line linking Arcachon to Bordeaux, had a brilliant idea to make their train profitable: the construction of sanatoriums. Thermalism emerged in 1923 with the discovery of the Sainte Anne des Abatilles spring.
Balades à Roulettes® (BR®) are short, leisurely walks, with a stroller or small bike, or adapted for people with reduced mobility (in wheelchairs), offered by the French Hiking Federation of Gironde.
